Executive Director
Changes...

I would like to offer my thanks to this board and the hard work they are doing to get us caught up on projects we all had hoped to accomplish this year but had nearly lost hope in getting accomplished.

Gary has helped to shore up some of our greatest difficulties with registration and record keeping. It is reported to me that Gary has actually surprised members by getting them their e-tickets within minutes of them registering on line for the festival. And probably just as important, he gets fast replies back to you about your membership questions. He has worked very hard this summer to help some of your most pressing concerns about your membership status. Not bad for a man who is also doing a great job as our treasurer. For the first time in my days as Executive Director, Gary has been able to piece back together enough of our records to get us good a good financial over look. This vital information has helped us access our needs at this time. His full disclosure has been enjoyed by all of us.

Joe has the good fortune to be surrounded by a great team on the land, and they are gearing up for the next few work weekends, and the festival. Joe is a wonderful team participant and his dedication to cohesion among us even in times when we may disagree is a vital attribute. His grounded, and consistent temperament, as well as long history with in CMA provides us with a great wealth of grounding as a team doing a big job.

Bruce has been extremely helpful these past few months in making sure we get the tools ready and necessary for us to meet some of our greatest communication challenges as a corporation with the changing economic environment. He has displayed incredible skill in choosing members of his team to accomplish our combined goals for the Accord and the website. I am very grateful for his even keeled assistance and his unwavering effort as a team member.

And for our newest interim board members, welcome Mary Wolf and Blaze Johnson. When vacancies needed filled on our board, with only one person running for each position, it seemed that both these candidates were the most likely choices to serve the remainder of this term out. And much to my delight they have been able to catch the fast end of the learning curve and have been extremely vital support to this board and corporation.

Mary brings such an organized and dedicated strength and work ethic to this position that she has been able to help realize some of the most important corporate goals we had hoped to accomplish in this position within the board. Her skill in this area has been a great asset to our team. Mary has also brought the enthusiasm and ability to create a much needed policy and procedure manual, and most importantly in my minds eye, she is creating a staff and board job description so folks have a clearer tool to understand what the requirements of the job they volunteer for and what they are expected to if they fill said position. This will go so far to resolve a great deal of frustration we all work under trying to understand what is expected of us with no documentation for us to refer too.

And Blaze. Well Blaze has been extremely affective in helping me during the Katrina crisis as it applied to my life. CMA members, and my dear friends, Lisa and Vic from New Orleans (Metairie) evacuated to my household on the day of Katrina’s land fall. We moved to accommodate the additional and potentially long term house guest. Due to the crisis getting my internet order for the switch over to our new home took weeks. With Blazes daily attention to communication with me, we were able to do the best we could in this crisis to continue with the work before us. Blaze has also proven to be a wonderful team player bringing her corporate skill set to her work here among us, and strength to the team that has been enjoyed by us all. Her direct support during my time without email, and during a great flux in my life due to hurricane one and then two, makes this so much easier.

I have to thank each of you for the dedication you have given to this org above and beyond the call of duty these past few months and especially during the crisis brought on by Katrina and Rita, and especially for your dedication to serve this corporation.

Houston/South East Texas Report
Hello out there! It's been a long time since we've had a chance to update everyone on what's going on, but I'm glad to say that things are going along pretty much as they always do. The Houston area members are enjoying PNOs, PMSs, HACK, and PATHS, along with PPD! To unravel the alphabet soup, or if you see something that is new to you, and you don't understand, feel free to call or write your reps at set@magickal-arts.org. We'll be happy to fill you in.

Samhain is coming up very soon, and we hope to see you all there. Remember to check the website often for changes and information, and remember, too, that you can renew your membership and buy tickets online
      - by far the easiest way for most of us to do it!

Have a blessed Mabon, and we'll see you at Samhain,
The South East Texas Reps,
Davida, Liz, Lyryal, Dancer Mike, Gryphon, and Keyne

North Texas Report
I am happy to announce that the seed has been planted for the permanent gate shack. We raised 120.00 at our area meeting and that's just the beginning!

I am so proud of all of you that have taken on my dream of making the front gate something that North Texas can be proud of, and making it your own.

I would also like to introduce Charity our new Front Gate Asst. Coordinator. Without her time and love at festivals I would be a basket case.

As always we have a great family in Dallas Betwixt & Between and if your looking for something to do that's the place to check first. They give so much to our community in North Texas, please give back and support them and in the mid-cities area on the 3rd Saturday of the month we have a PST sponsored by Luna, call her and find out more info at 817-794-0637. And we have our friends at the PVUUC providing worship services in the Garland area.

As always there is cma-nt@yahoogroups.com for everything about CMA that deals us and the land. We hope this finds all of you safe after the storms. Love you all, have a safe and wonderful second harvest. See you at Samhain!

Merry Meet,

Outlands Report
Haallllloooooo Outlands! It's so exciting to finally have the Accord back, and I hope that all of you are as happy as I am about it! Changes in your outland reps have happened!
  • The lovely Blaze has accepted the position of Interim Assistant Executive Director, (YAY Blaze!) so she will be moving out of the ranks of rep and into the ranks of Board Member.
  • Corpus Christi area PNO occurs the 13th of each month, 7pm, at Cafe Calypso, located in Half Price Books. Also, the Pagan Parent Meet-Up is the third Thursday of each month at Cafe Calypso. Yin-Yang Fandango has live pagan-esque music every weekend, and drum circles held once a month.

In the Killeen/Ft. Hood area...
Lots of good stuff going on here.

  • We have a Pagan Night Out on the third Tuesday of every month at the American Legion Post 223. I hope everyone can make it sometime!
  • We also have some new things going on in this area. The Temple of Ancient Wisdom opened in Copperas Cove a few months ago, we have three Pagan or Pagan Friendly stores in the area: The Urban Goddess, Stork Support/Three Crazy Ladies and Sisters of the Earth and Sea, and Carolynn is working with the Interfaith Spiritual Council to present a Mayfest celebration to the community in this area.

If you're interested in becoming more involved with CMA, but don't know where to start, please contact your local rep, or in the case of the Outlands, not usually so local rep and find out what you can do!

In the mean time, workends are a great way to meet fellow CMA'ers as well as giving you the opportunity to assist in developing and caring for our land. You'll get a unique insiders perspective of what it actually takes to keep our land happy between festivals. If you're interested, please contact a rep or email landadmin@magickal-arts.org for more information! As always, if you're in the outlands and have questions, concerns, comments about things in your area or just need more information on CMA or your membership, please feel free to contact outlands@magickal-arts.org and one of us will get back to you as soon as possible!

Several of our new members have been attending work weekends to make our wonderful CMA land beautiful for our festival. Be looking for more information on our upcoming celebrations!

Much Love and Glitter from your Outlands Reps,
Jaela, Carolynn and Jason (formerly known as the medic)

San Antonio Report
Greeting from San Antonio,
There have been many changes since the October elections of last year for our area reps.

  • Joe Rose is no longer lead rep. He was elected to serve as the Director of Land and Facilities.
  • Mary Wolf is no longer an area rep she was appointed to serve as interim Director of Records.
  • Kevin "Zathras' Hope moved to Austin and is serving as a rep in that fine city.

Robert "Bambam" Shatlain had to take a medical leave. I saw him last night and he is doing wonderful. He looks good. I told him we all miss him.

That leaves Tony Beauregard and myself Rhiana D Shanklin to handle the entire goings on here. The BOD took pity on us and appointed Susanne "Dragonwolf" Ambrul as an area rep. Many of you know Susanne from community Service.

So your 2005 San Antonio Reps are:
-Rhiana D. Shanklin "Gypsy" - Lead Rep - 210-595-6774
rhiana66a@yahoo.com
-Tony Beauregard "The Wizard"
-Susanne “Dragon-Wolfe” Ambühl
dragonwolfe21@yahoo.com

What else has changed? The monthly PNO's were forced to find a new venue. Our new home since June is at Cementville in the Quarry.
(210) 828-7232 7310
Jones Maltsberger Rd
San Antonio, TX 78209

The elections for new area reps will be held Sunday October 23, 2005.

Laughter and Light Rhiana, Tony and Susanne
